Dance For Parkinson's Workshop

Dancers and persons with Parkinson’s both need to stretch and strengthen their bodies, use eyes, ears and touch to control movement, think about how they move and constantly work on balance.

Our STG Education Department is working with Seattle-based instructors to teach ongoing dance classes for individuals with Parkinson’s disease and their caregivers. These classes are modeled from ones originated by the Mark Morris Dance Group in Brooklyn, NY.

Here are a few nice moments from the most recent class:

The Fall Session classes for Dance for Parkinson's take place every Saturday through November 14th, thanks mainly to our partners Evergreen Hospital Medical Center and Spectrum Dance Company. For more information, please visit Evergreen Healthcare online or call the Evergreen Healthline at 425-899-3000, Monday - Friday, 7:00 A.M. - 7:00 P.M.

Paramount Vertical Sign Replacement

new Paramount vertical sign in process at The Sign Factory in Kirkland

You may have heard us mention once or twice the need to remove The Paramount Theatre's vertical sign - and how we've been working with The Sign Factory in Kirkland to create an exact replica of the sign that's 90% more energy efficient that the current sign.

Well, our new sign is done - and starting tomorrow morning at 9am, we'll be making steps to take the current sign off the theatre's exterior. We aren't yet sure what condition the sign will be in when it comes down, and we won't be able to make any decisions until we see how it's doing - but we'll be out on the sidewalk watching it come down, taking photos and videos for those of you who can't be there!

If you're in downtown Seattle tomorrow morning around 9am, stop by 9th & Pine and check out the process. It'll take a few days, and we'll do our best to update you along the way!
