Installations Begin Today at The Moore Theatre

Preparations for Moore Inside Out began earlier this week, with aerosol work starting in the second balcony stairwell. This morning, Lead Pencil Studio and Beliz Brother began the work to get their installations in the theatre - it's abuzz with the sense of community! And the knowledge that hard work under a tight deadline is going to turn out some really incredible results. Hope you can make it on Saturday!

Joey Nix / Weirdo - Moore Inside Out

Moore Inside Out is a work in progress at this point, with artists in every nook and cranny of The Moore Theatre. What's happening in the second balcony stairwell is just amazing - aerosol paint work from Joey Nix and Weirdo:

Megan Mertaugh - Moore Inside Out

Megan Mertaugh is one of the many artists participating in this Saturday's Moore Inside Out. She was kind enough to take a little time to send us some insight into the piece she and BASE Movement Theatre will be presenting on Saturday:

From Megan:

"A little bit about what I am doing... the installation I am/Base Movement Theatre is presenting is called: The Bathroom.

‘The Bathroom’ is located on the basement floor of The Moore Theatre in 3 backstage bathrooms. An installation piece, ‘The Bathroom’ is a pre-recorded film of dance set in an environment of 300 actual watermelons flooding the 3 bathrooms. Projected on the walls will be a 16MM film of a girl wearing an outrageous, green prom dress, who lackadaisically rearranges, feasts on, and throws-out the watermelons within the film. Displacing a large amount of watermelons from the typical summer picnic table to the bathroom floor, ‘The Bathroom’ is a commentary on how we use, indulge in, and deplete our resources.

In 1904, millions of gallons of water were used to wash out the original cliff that defined the waterfront of Seattle in order to create a flatter landscape to assist in the development of today’s Downtown. The historic architectural and cultural landmark of The Moore Theatre stands where it does today on top of a man-made landscape, and ‘The Bathroom’ aims to recognize and acknowledge the complicated benefits and consequences of ‘excess’ involving our limited natural resources. At 8PM the day of the event, all the watermelons will be free for the taking."

Don't miss Megan Mertaugh & BASE Movement Theatre's piece and SO MANY more this Saturday from 6pm to 10pm at The Moore Theatre. It's all about community and art, and it's free!
